Twenty-Fifth Amendment

Lord, the Twenty-Fifth Amendment clarifies the ambiguities of Article Two about presidential succession. Before the presidents and vice-presidents decided how they wanted to manage succession. This amendment established clearly the order: president followed by vice president followed by Speaker of the House followed by the president pro tempore of the Senate followed by all the cabinet members.
While no president has died in office in the last fifty years, we now have terrorist threats and it is prudent to have well-defined succession plans.

Lord, while this amendment is wisdom, may we never need to replace a president because of death. Keep our President just and righteous. If he is not, remove him. We pray for a righteous president, and that You safeguard him/her to be wise and just.

Thank you for praying. Blessings. Nancy
